Vanu, which had been subleasing 20,000 sf of space in the building for the past two years, inked the new lease directly with landlord Boston Properties, sealing the company's commitment to the 215,385 sf, 12-story class A office building in Kendall Square for five more years, Tucker Hansen, with Meredith & Grew's Boston office tells GlobeSt.com.

"Boston Properties worked hard to keep them in the building," says Hansen, noting that the lease renewal allowed Vanu to remain in the same location and avoid the disruption of a move.

The firm is among several tenants, including Intel and the Massachusetts Biotech Council. The building now has 50,000 sf of vacant space.

Terms of Vanu's lease were not disclosed but Hansen says asking price for space in the building ranges from the upper $30s to the low $40s per sf.

Hansen along with Joseph Flaherty, also with Meredith & Grew, handled the transaction for the tenant. Steve Purpura and Chris McCauley with Richards Barry Joyce & Partners' Boston office assisted Boston Properties' in-house leasing team of Lauren Phelan, Phil Dorman and Austin Smith.
