The fund's investor base is composed of several long-term partners that have previously invested in Warburg Pincus' funds. GE Asset Management is one such company.

In a company statement, Managing Director and Partner Michael Profenuis says "WPRE I combines our real estate experience and private equity investing expertise with a strong, dedicated capital base. This enables us to take advantage of attractive real estate investment opportunities and the team is actively pursuing numerous transactions in the global market."

The source also says that more than 50% of the fund will be invested in Europe and Asia, with the remaining balance invested in the United States.
