WASHINGTON,DC-Anacostia Waterfront Corp. is moving forward with draft plans for two plots of land, now that a key bill has cleared the Senate transferring ownership from the federal government to the District. Hill East and Poplar Point are two sites that have transferred to the city.

Adrian Washington, AWC president and CEO, tells GlobeSt.com that the AWC will be able to present to developers a draft plan for the development for Hill East, a 66-acre site along the waterfront for which a one-million-sf mixed use development has been proposed. The draft plan should be ready in early 2007.

Poplar Point, a 100-acre plot, is another major area set to transfer. AWC will also be submitting a draft proposal for this site next year, but later in the year, Washington says.
