ST. LOUIS-Pinnacle Entertainment Inc.'s $430-million casino and luxury hotel project, currently under construction near the Gateway Arch, was recently given a name that reflects both the city's French heritage and the development's 24-story illuminated hotel tower. The initial phase of Lumiere Place, slated to open in late 2007, includes two hotels and a casino with approximately 2,000 slot machines and 40 table games. Future plans call for adding residential and commercial components to a 20-acre redevelopment area bounded by Third Street, Carr Street, Lenore K. Sullivan Drive and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Pinnacle has tapped the Jerde Partnership, an architecture and urban planning firm, to master plan the Lumiere Place neighborhood. The project could add more than 200,000 sf of commercial space and 375 condo units. Pinnacle owns or has an option to purchase all of the land in the redevelopment area.
The hotel components of the first phase are a new 24-story tower that will be illuminated from within at night, and an existing 297-suite Embassy Suites that's currently being upgraded. The luxury hotel will have 200 rooms, a 10,000-sf spa, two fine-dining restaurants, and an expansive pool and garden area that overlooks the Gateway Arch and the city skyline.
Pinnacle is developing another St. Louis-area casino project. River City Casino & Hotel, a $375-million casino, hotel and entertainment complex in Lemay, is slated to open in late 2008.
