Hotel general manager John Murtha tells GlobeSt.com that the restaurant, which launched the careers of nationally-known chefs such as Lydia Shire, Jasper White and Gordon Hamersley, will convert the restaurant into function space as part of the hotel-wide renovation project. A 70-seat restaurant on the hotel's first floor will replace the Seasons.

"The hotel market in Boston is strong right now and we have every reason to believe it will continue to be strong," says Murtha. "It seemed like now is the time to invest in the property and restore the luster that was the Bostonian when it opened in 1982."

Among the renovations planned for the hotel are wall-to-wall renovation of all the hotel's 201 guest rooms, corridors and the main lobby and entrance. The work will also include the $350,000 renovation of much of the hotel's internal systems such as elevators and in-house water supply.

"It's pretty much a stem-to-stern renovation," Murtha says. The rehab work, which has already started, is expected to be completed this summer.
