Charter School Puts Building on the Block

BOSTON-A 200,000-sf Back Bay building that currently serves as the Boston Renaissance Charter School has already drawn interest from hotel, office and residential developers in its first days on the market.

BOSTON-The Boston Renaissance Charter School has put its 200,000-sf Back Bay building on the market as it prepares to leave Downtown for a new site in Mattapan. The classical revival style, 13-story building at 100 Arlington St., located on the fringes of the Back Bay, South End, and Financial District, sits on 0.4 acres at the intersection of Arlington, Columbus and Stuart streets across from the Park Plaza Hotel and the historic Arlington Street Armory.

“We’ve have a phenomenal response already,” Bill Moylan, with CB Richard Ellis/New England, tells GlobeSt.com. He says tours of the property are being offered beginning this week and “Every major developer in the city is interested in taking a look.”

No asking price for the building has been set but recent building sales Downtown have ranged from more than $200 to $800 per sf, Moylan notes. Bids on the building are due by the end of the year.
