He tells GlobeSt.com that his decision to leave the company "was not an overnight" or snap judgement. He adds that over the past year-and-a-half, he and company founders, Mark Van Ness and Rand Sperry, have grown apart in the direction and shape the company should take.

Frosh's decision to leave was not based on any one area, but stems from "just a lot of things on a lot of fronts, but we're working together through the transition and the company's going to be fine."

"We will miss David," said Rand Sperry, in a prepared statement. "He has done a tremendous job leading the company for the past five years. Under (his) guidance, Sperry Van Ness has built a professional management team that has grown the business to six times its size since 2001." The firm is now located in 36 states and employs approximately 800 brokers.

Before joining SVN, Frosh was president of Fountain Valley, CA-based CAM Commerce Solutions Inc. Prior to that post, he served stints with Automatic Data Processing and Optima Retail Systems. Frosh earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Central Michigan University and a master's degree in business administration from Claremont Graduate School.

As for his future prospects, Frosh says he plans to "do a little teaching" and will stay in the real estate industry. However, he did not comment on what his next venture would be. "You can't do my job full out and be thinking about the other thing you're going to do out of the gate."
