SAN FRANCISCO-Forest City's loss is MacFarlane's gain, and Northern California's, too, as Greg Vilkin changes jobs. President of Forest City Residential West and Forest City Stapleton and based out of Los Angeles, Vilkin will take over as managing principal and president of MacFarlane Partners and relocate to San Francisco as of March 1.

According to officials at MacFarlane, Vilkin will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the firm's urban real estate and single-family housing investment groups. Victor B. MacFarlane, founder and managing principal of MacFarlane Partners, says Vilkin's "experience in both urban development and home building--two primary areas of focus for our firm" will make for a smooth transition. MacFarlane adds that he and Vilkin have worked together on joint venture over the past 15 years.

During his tenure at Forest City, Vilkin oversaw development for the Western US, with projects including market-rate, affordable, student, military, mixed-use and high-density urban housing. Also under his watch has been the nation's largest urban redevelopment project--transforming the former Stapleton International Airport in Denver into a community consisting of more than 12,000 homes and 10 million sf of commercial and retail space.

Headquartered in San Francisco, MacFarlane Partners has regional offices in Los Angeles, Washington, DC and the Greater New York metropolitan area. Properties in the firm's urban portfolio include 1100 Wilshire and Metropolitan Lofts in Los Angeles; Bay Street Emeryville in Emeryville.; and the Shops at Columbus Circle, the retail component of the Time Warner Center in New York City.

In all, the firm's single-family residential programs have provided funding for the development of over 80,000 single-family homes/residential lots with aggregate revenue of $12 billion. MacFarlane currently counts roughly $11.7 billion in assets under management.
