At the same time, five brokers from Long & Foster Commercial have been recruited to join the new firm, according to Brent Miller, marketing director. Henry Hanna, John McClellan, Wesley Cox, Chris Peek and Donna Savage were former colleagues during Miller's own tenure at Long & Foster. Hanna has closed more than 1,000 commercial real estate transactions over the past 35 years. He was the commercial manager for Long & Foster Real Estate and over the years hired most of the brokers now working for Sperry Van Ness–Miller Commercial Real Estate including Miller, McClellan, Peek and Cox.

They will be joining Bradley Gillis, Rick Tilghman and Darren Crawford at the company's new headquarters, located in the recently renovated HR White Hardware Building at 206 East Main St.

The tie-up will open new opportunities to both companies, Miller says. "We will be able to expand beyond Delmarva. Sperry Van Ness, for their part, didn't have a presence on the Eastern Shore, which is a rapidly growing part of Maryland." The partnership is also expected to expand the company's commercial property management business line. Currently there is a little under two million sf of properties under management on the Delmarva peninsula.

The new management line up includes Miller, as well as Amy Miller, as managing directors of Sperry Van Ness-Miller Commercial Real Estate. Karl Kimlel and Cathy Justice will handle the management division of the company. From Sperry Van Ness, Cynthia Steadman, who is director of organizational development, will oversee the company's growth in Maryland. Matt Fitch, regional director, is responsible for the region.
