The TRW facility was acquired by Corporate Property Associates 16-Global Incorporated, W.P. Carey's affiliated income generating real estate fund. Gino Sabatini, director at W. P. Carey, tells GlobeSt.com that the fund typically buys and holds assets, and that the TRW acquisition is no exception. "TRW is a terrific company, and they will continue to be a great tenant," he says. He adds that the suburban Detroit location was not a deterrent for W.P. Carey. "We continue to believe in Detroit," Sabatini says, adding that the company owns a number of industrial and office buildings in the market.

Located at 4505 W. 26 Mile Rd., the two buildings house TRW's engineering labs and related services. The facility was erected in stages mostly between 1987 and 1990. An addition to one of the buildings is currently under construction, according to W.P. Carey.

Sabatini says that W.P Carey continues to look for other sale-leaseback opportunities across the country. The company's other recent acquisitions include an office and warehouse/distribution facility in Spanish Fork, UT, that's leased to Provo Craft and Novelty Inc., and office, research and development, and assembly facilities in Woodland, WA, and Georgetown, TX, that are leased to LifePort Inc.
