The newly expanded team will focus on project management, construction management and technology management.

Pirot & Associates was headed by James Pirot, a 28-year veteran to the real estate industry. Prior to starting his own company, Pirot was employed by the Staubach Co., Emmes Realty Services and the Helmsley Organization. "We are thrilled to be part of Grubb & Ellis' ongoing growth, and to be able to align ourselves with the capabilities and vision of its new New York leadership team in the framework of a well established firm," says Pirot in a statement.

Other Pirot & Associates' members to join the team include George Mandarakas, Cassie Bellew and Luz Medina. Mandarakas is now a senior vice president of operations for project management, Bellew is an associate project manager and Medina is an associate project manager.

"The addition of the Pirot team immediately vaults Grubb & Ellis' project management capabilities to a regional leadership position," says Tranchina in a statement. "Jim, George and their team are seasoned professionals whose experience, sophistication, relationships and knowledge ensure our clients the absolute highest standard of service for a wide variety of space development needs."

New hires are part of Grubb's attempt to beef up its New York City branch. In November, Grubb brought on Joe Harkins as an executive managing director to head the firm's Lower Manhattan services.
