BROOKLYN, NY-The Brooklyn Navy Yards Development Corp. has signed 11 new leases and two lease expansions, to total about 62,000 sf, at the 300-acre Brooklyn Navy Yard. The industrial hub now houses more than 230 businesses.
The 11 new tenants are Barronarts LLC, Budget Computer, Christian Galesi, Constantine Karalis Architect, Fervent Electrical Corp., Goldberg's International Marketing Co. Inc., Grace Contracting of NY Inc., Liz McConnell Studio, Master Cabinetry Inc., Thoughts In Grey Circles Inc. and WilsonBuilt Inc. Together the new tenants leased a total of 44,320 sf. Goldberg's International Marketing signed the largest lease of the group taking 23,500 sf of storage and distribution space. Master Cabinetry's lease was second largest at 5,666 sf.
Cyre American LLC expanded its space to total 19,000 sf, taking an additional 7,500. Worldlinks Trading Inc. leased 9,859 sf in addition to the 2,800 sf the firm already occupies."The Brooklyn Navy Yard's continued growth in 2006 exemplifies the enormous demand for space in our unique and ideally situated industrial park," says Andrew Kimball, BNYDC president and CEO, in a statement. In 2006, almost 30 new businesses leased space at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, five tenants expanded and more than 20 tenants renewed their leases. All of that totaled more than 219,000 sf of leases this year.
Interest in the area increased due to last month's start of an expansion project that will add 400,000 sf of space, a portion of which is a 60,000-sf grocer.
