BARNEGAT, NJ-The 650,000-sf retail component of the Stafford Park mixed-use development will be leased exclusively by Metro Commercial Real Estate. With Target established as a main anchor, three anchor positions, eight mid-sized retail tenants and a dozen boutiques and restaurants are needed to fill the park.

The residential/retail complex, to be built on the current site of the Stafford Business Park by the locally based Walters Group, will have 565 age-restricted residential units, 110 affordable housing units and 25,000 sf of office space. A village center separate from the retail component will have an addition 70,000 sf of retail and restaurants. A recreation component includes a 66,000-sf ice skating rink.

"There's a tremendous amount of interest in the project from national, regional and local tenants," says Daniel Brickner of Metro Commercial's Pennsylvania office in Conshohocken. "We're currently in negotiation with a variety of retail uses including electronics, books, apparel, sporting goods and restaurants."

Brickner and Thomas Londres from Metro Commercial's South Jersey office will handle the account.

Walters just completed the acquisition of the former landfill site earlier in the month, as reported by GlobeSt.com. Traffic improvements will be made in January.
