DUBAI-A New Jersey based construction consulting firm has been tapped to manage the development of a $177-million mixed-use high rise here for local businessman Nasser Abdulla Hussein Lootah. Hill International of Marlton, NJ says the 38-month contract is worth $2.8 million.

The 1.8-million-sf Duja Tower will rise 51 stories (640 feet) from Sheikh Zayed Road and include a mix of residential and commercial space. The development also includes a 10-story parking garage that will be located adjacent to the tower.

Hill's responsibilities under the contract include monitoring and providing advice and recommendations to the client on all design, procurement, tendering and construction activities. The scope also includes development of document control and project control procedures, program, design management and construction program management.

The work will be directed by Abdo Kardous, Hill's SVP in charge of Middle East project management. Based in Dubai, Kardous could not be reached Thursday afternoon for comment. Hill International has 1,400 employees in 60 offices worldwide. The company is one of the top 20 construction management firms in the US.
