Effective Monday, Clark Morrison, Mike Zischke, Anne Mudge, Alicia Guerra, Andrew Sabey, and Gregory Caligari are partners of Cox, Castle & Nicholson's San Francisco office. Four of the lawyers come from MoFo's Walnut Creek office and the two come from its San Francisco office.

Keith Wetmore, the New York-based Chair of MoFo, tells GlobeSt.com that the group of lawyers who left includes one real estate lawyer, one litigator and four land-use lawyers that primarily represented homebuilders in California. "We continue to have an active, high-end land use practice in California," he says.

One local industry source tells GlobeSt.com that word on the street is that the group left in part due to a billing rate increase instated by MoFo that the group thought was too steep for its homebuilder clients. Morrison could not be reached Tuesday afternoon for comment. "Cox, Castle will provide a tremendous platform for the continued growth of our practice," he said in a prepared statement.

Morrison and Guerra are experienced in land use and natural resource matters. They have represented private developers, public agencies (including universities, water districts, cities and counties) and non-profits. Caligari is an experienced transactional lawyer with expertise in both land development and telecommunications matters. His clients include the developers of master-planned communities and military base reuse projects.

Zischke, Mudge and Sabey engage in the processing and litigation of land use, environmental impact and natural resource matters. Zischke's clients include both private developers and public agencies building large-scale facilities such as maritime ports and airports. Mudge's experience includes the siting and permitting of major energy plants including wind, geothermal and gas-fired projects. Sabey's practice focuses on litigation across the spectrum of land use and real estate matters, including land use and CEQA litigation, federal ESA and NEPA challenges, as well as construction contract and real estate disputes.
