Luff, a former TCC senior vice president, is now managing director and executive vice president at JLL, and Zirk and McGowan keep their respective senior vice president and vice president titles as the team joins Whitney Hunter, JLL vice president and regional director here. The TCC team was hired by Ian King, executive vice president in JLL's Parsippany, NJ office.

Luff tells GlobeSt.com, "It was no surprise that change would come to TCC, and when it came in the form of CBRE, we thought that fantastic company would be good for us. Then the phone started to ring, and we decided, as a team, to do due diligence regarding what would be best for us and for our families and our clients. During the process, we learned a lot about our great competitors. Net net, we loved TCC and felt that Jones Lang LaSalle best captured the platform and culture we'd enjoyed there."

"In the end, we thought we'd rather be with an acquirer," Zirk says. "Bob Walters [CBRE's senior managing director of the Mid-Atlantic region] was very welcoming. We go way back. He's terrific, and it was painful to tell him we weren't going with CB."

"You always hope you can retain and welcome 100% of the people in a company when this happens," Walters, who is based here, tells GlobeSt.com. He oversaw the CBRE/Insignia merger transition here in 2003. "Realistically, we recognize that some folks, for different reasons of their own, will seek other alternatives," he continues. "These three talked to the market, and maybe JLL wanted to grow their staff a bit. We'll still work together, just on different sides of the table. We wish them the best.

"We opened our arms to welcome and keep all the brokers on board," he continues, and says, the others, "including those in the suburbs, have joined. We're picking up a lot of well-developed skill sets and talented TCC people, not just salespeople. We're adding business lines in project and facilities management that will benefit CB and expand our overall services."
