VERNON HILLS, IL-Windy City Novelties Inc. has purchased a 134,790-sf building to allow for expansion. The company purchased the building at 300 Lakeview Parkway and will keep its current location in the same business park at 595 N. Lakeview Parkway, says Randy Podolsky, principal of Podolsky Northstar CORFAC International. The transaction was valued at about $6.8 million.

Windy City, which sells party and novelty items such as glow products, only has about 50,000-sf at 595 N. Lakeview, says Podolsky, whose company represented the novelty maker. Windy City had been searching for five years for a building, he tells GlobeSt.com. Additional features of the building include a back-up power generator, and approximately 50,000 square feet of executive office space. The building was developed for Omron Management and had served as the manufacturing and distribution facility for Omron's thermometer products.

This new building will allow the business to expand its operations in addition to allowing the company to have separate rooms for ordering and showing off its wares, Podolsky says. Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler represented the seller. First Midwest Bank provided financing and Gary Wool with Janko and Wool provided mortgage brokerage services.
