CAP CANA, Dominican Republic-In the first high-profile project since the Dominican-American Business Initiative was formed last year, the New York City-based Trump Organization and Cap Cana SA plan to develop a $2 billion-plus resort destination at the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic. The first phase of a multimillion-dollar, 1,000-slips marina is scheduled to open in the spring. The marina will cater to yachts up to 150 feet. Besides the marina, Trump at Cap Cana is planned for a golf course, golf villa, golf lots, estate lots, a beach club, condo hotel and ocean-side condominium homes. The entire 8,680-acre undertaking is expected to take about 12 years to complete, according to Donald J. Trump. Cap Cana is adjacent to the Punta Cana International Airport.
Trump Farallon Estates will be the first residential project to break ground there. The community is planned for 68 mansions on 1.5-acre lots within a gated community atop the highest bluff in the area, according to Trump. Home prices weren’t disclosed but are expected to start no lower than $2 million, US resort industry consultants familiar with comparable endeavors tell GlobeSt.com.
