The land was part of a parcel of more than 100 acres where Reynolds Aluminum was formerly located. The property was purchased CenterPoint Properties, which demolished the buildings, performed some environmental cleanup work and is developing the majority of the property as an industrial park.
At the corner will be an approximate 200,000-sf Wal-Mart and an approximate 100,000-sf power center, says Joanne Sutryk, with Edgemark Commercial Real Estate Services LLC, which is handling the leasing of the center. The Wal-Mart may open as early as spring of next year and it will probably take between 18 to 24 months for the power center to open.
Construction is expected to begin this spring, Silvers says. McVickers Development and CenterPoint are currently in negotiations regarding the sale of another parcel for additional retail space but nothing is finalized yet.
