For the 14-week fourth quarter, total revenues rose 22.1% more than the previous year to $23.4 million. Same-store sales for the 14-week quarter rose 17.5% from the same period in the previous year. Based on a 13-week comparison, the company's consolidated same-store sales were up 9.4%. Net income was $1.5 million, compared with earnings of $308,000 for the prior-year period.

For the 53-week fiscal year, total revenues were $80.7 million, up 14.1% from the previous, 52-week year. Same-store sales for the company's 53-week fiscal year increased 10.1%. Based on a 52-week comparison, the company's consolidated same-store sales rose 7.9% for the year. Net income applicable to common stock was $3.0 million, compared with net income of $889,000 the previous year. "Consistently throughout the year, we delivered strong sales trends in an economic environment that proved to be challenging for many of our industry peers," Gay said.

Grill Concepts owns, manages and licenses upscale casual and full-service restaurants using the brand names The Grill on the Alley and Daily Grill. It operates 25 restaurants, consisting of five The Grill on the Alley units in California, Chicago and Dallas; and 20 Daily Grill restaurants in Southern and Northern California; the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area; Houston; Portland, OR.; and Skokie, IL.
