Airport Site Acquired for Hotel-Condo Project

SAN JOSE, CA-Barry Swenson Builder acquires a chunk of land near San Jose International Airport that is zoned for hotel use.

SAN JOSE, CA-Barry Swenson Builder is in the very early stages of developing a mixed-use high rise on a site near San Jose International Airport. The developer envisions a tower containing both a hotel and condominiums on a vacant 2.85-acre parcel at the corner of North First Street and Skyport Drive.

The parcel, which is not yet entitled, sits near the future primary entrance to the airport. No development timeline has been established. Barry Swenson’s broker, Scott MacDonald of CPS Corfac International tells GlobeSt.com that the company’s first course of action was to acquire the property. Now the plan is to work with the city to determine what exactly it would like to see on the site and then seek entitlements, he says.
