CHICAGO-Brookdale Senior Living Inc., based here, has purchased two senior living communities for $101 million. The senior housing facilities have a total of 675 units and are located in Ohio and northern Carolina.
Brookdale had previously leased and operated the facilities. The communities were purchased from private investors. The sellers' identity and a cap rate were not disclosed, nor were the specific facilities revealed. Representatives from Brookdale declined to be interviewed.
Brookdale obtained $108.5 million in financing for the two acquired communities and a third community. The operator of senior living facilities converted the financing on the third facility from a floating interest rate to a five-year fixed rate, according to a released statement.
The company currently owns and operates more than 550 senior living facilities in 35 states. The company serves more than 52,000 residents with independent living, assisted living, dementia-care facilities and continuing care retirement centers, according to a released statement.
