Behringer Closes on $70M Tech Center Acquisition

SANTA CLARA, CA-Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT I acquires Santa Clara Tech Center, a 456,000-sf development that includes two fully leased buildings and one empty one.

SANTA CLARA, CA-Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT I has closed on its $70-million acquisition of the 456,000-sf Santa Clara Tech Center. The 22.8-acre development includes two buildings that are fully leased to Hitachi Data Systems and a third, empty one that will be converted for use as a data center. The transaction was first revealed in an SEC filing in early April .

Developed in the 1980s, Santa Clara Tech Center is located on Central Expressway at Lafayette Street. The sellers were an affiliate of Cupertino-based Sobrato Development Co., and Real Estate Trust at Community Foundation Silicon Valley, which received one of the buildings from Sobrato as a donation. The property addresses are 700, 750 and 800 Central Expressway.
