LAS VEGAS-The signing of Nordstrom as the first anchor for Summerlin Centre in Las Vegas will “set a tone” for the entire mixed-use complex, said Robert Michaels, president and COO of General Growth Properties, the developer of the mixed-use complex.

Nordstrom will open a 149,000-sf store, eventually to be joined at least three and possibly four additional anchors. The center will break ground in the next few weeks for a spring 2009 opening. Nordstrom will open in fall 2009.

“Nordstrom is one of the premier department stores in the country,” Michaels told GSR Ticket. “It sets the tone for what Summerlin Centre will be. This will be a very special center.”
