Denver McGarey of the Coronado, CA-based McGarey Group, which also has an office in King of Prussia, represented O'Neill in the Muvico deal, the value of which is undisclosed. Muvico joins Wegmans Food Market, which has committed to developing a 140,000-sf unit in the center.
When the developer gained approval for the project in mid-2005, as GlobeSt.com reported at the time, O'Neill estimated the construction cost of Uptown Worthington at $500 million. In addition to 745,000 sf of retail, restaurant and entertainment, it will contain 753 residential units in multifamily structures and 185,000 sf of class A office space. It is scheduled for completion in spring 2009. GlobeSt.com was unable to reach O'Neill by deadline.
Executives with the Coral Springs, FL-based Muvico say 700 of the seats in the new theater, "will be premier seating fashioned as luxury box seats of major venues," and will be featured within all of the auditoriums, which will present live events as well as movies. Each theater will also be available for rent to accommodate special events, including corporate and business functions.
