Perspective

I have an interesting job. A lot of talented, successful people come to visit me in need of a job or thinking about a career change. Then there are the lucky ones who have made it and are looking for the next challenge. Because our firm focuses on executive-level talent, more often than not, our visitors are relatively well-to-do financially, and often our conversations drift into such questions as: “What do you want to do next? What challenge do you want to take on? How about a change in direction?” However, a recurring theme in almost every conversation is the illusive goal of financial security–the dollar sum that would enable you to do your own thing, whatever that thing may be. If you fall into this category, you may want to pick up a copy of The Number. What Do You Need for the Rest of Your Life, and What Will It Cost? by Lee Eisenberg. It’s an easy read and may help you set some direction to your career strategy. What’s your number?
