A SAP Americas' spokeswoman tells GlobeSt.com it will be followed by a second phase, which will include another 202,000-sf building and a 20,000-sf atrium. The estimated start date for phase two is 2012 at a cost that is yet to be determined. The full expansion will accommodate the addition of approximately 1,200 employees.
"Absolutely, the entire expansion is being constructed to be a Platinum LEED building," the spokeswoman says. That is the highest certification provided by the US Green Building Council. The architect is New York City-based FxFowle. Among the architect's other projects are the New York Times building and the Reuters Building at Three Times Square in Manhattan and Tianjin Tower in Tianjin, China.
SAP Americas is a subsidiary of Waldorf, Germany-based SAP AG, which is the world's largest business software company and the third largest software company overall. According to its website, it has operations in more than 50 countries and serves more than 36,200 clients worldwide.
