EL SEGUNDO, CA-Com Dev, a Canadian-based manufacturer of hardware used in satellites and other space technology, has acquired a 46,000-sf office/R&D building to establish a presence in the US in order to pursue the US market for its products. According to broker Luke Staubitz, a partner in the Los Angeles office of the Klabin Co., the new Com Dev facility is a highly improved building in the Utah business tract in El Segundo.

Com Dev, which is based in Ontario, Canada, says that the $8.6-million facility at 2333 Utah Ave. will serve as the home of the company's US engineering and production operations. It chose the site in part for its location near some of the world's leading space companies, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Com Dev bought the building from Karguval Properties Ltd. in a transaction that was brokered by Staubitz and Harvey Beesen, also in Klabin's Los Angeles office, who represented the sellers. Com Dev was represented by Brent Ball of CBI Commercial Brokers International.
