MGM Mirage Renovating Luxor Pyramid

LAS VEGAS-MGM Mirage Inc. is reinventing its landmark Luxor property at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip.

LAS VEGAS-A multi-phase, multi-year makeover is in the works at Luxor, MGM Mirage Inc.’s 4,400-room black pyramid hotel-casino at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. The transformation includes a new nightclub, new restaurants and lounges, a new Cirque du Soleil production, a renovated casino floor and remodeled hotel rooms.

The first phase of the renewal is occurring on the casino level, where major renovations and additions are already underway, including the nightclub LAX Las Vegas where the RA nightclub used to be and several new restaurants and lounges. The penultimate phase-one addition is a venue for a new Cirque du Soleil production that will open this time next year and feature illusionist Criss Angel.

Two new venues are already open. Located off the lobby, the new 24-hour face of the Luxor is Aurora, a 157-seat lounge with an Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, theme created by Japanese design firm Super Potato. Up and running this month is the Restore Pool Lounge, which offers guests 21 years of age an upscale pool experience.
