Sidney, NB-based Cabela's operates 19 stores around the country and plans to open seven new units this year, in Gonzales, LA; Hoffman Estates, IL; East Hartford, CT; Hammond, IN; Reno, NV; Post Falls, ID; and Lacey, WA. Executives have said that the US could support a Cabela's in every state.
New Canaan, CT-based Feldco Development Corp. is building Gateway at Scarborough. Besides the Cabela's, it will include 68,600-sf of other retail, three 6,000-sf restaurant pads, a 200-room hotel and 80,000 sf of offices. The entire project will be made up of 11 buildings.
Other than the Scarborough location, Cabela's recently announced another store it plans to open next year, in Greenwood, IN, by the fall. That 125,000-sf unit will be adjacent to a planned water park and hotel on a 100-acre site.
