The seller is a private real estate investment partnership identified as 455 Maryland Drive Associates. Richard Smith, a principal of locally based Avir Realty Group Inc., represented the seller. Safeguard Business Forms, a unit of the Dallas-based distributor of printed materials for small business, previously occupied the single-story building, Smith says. It is located on 5.5 acres.
Abington-based Mutual Real Estate Corp. represented Pipano in finalizing the purchase agreement. Pipano founded Gate 1 Travel in Glenside in 1981 with a staff of two. The company now employs a staff of hundreds worldwide and has grown to become one of the leading international travel organizations in the Delaware Valley.
