NEW YORK CITY-Charles Grossman, a leader in the real estate investment management business and a former managing director of ING Clarion Partners, died of complications of lung cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City on Aug. 18, 2007. He was 63 years old.

For four decades, Grossman was a major figure in both institutional real estate and in the world of retail property. Early in his career, he was founding partner and CEO of Schroder Real Estate Associates and then was associated with James D. Wolfensohn Inc.

ING tells GlobeSt.com that the senior management and staff of ING Clarion are deeply saddened by his death. “Charlie’s leadership and vision contributed to the growth of our firm, and we all were the beneficiaries of his wisdom, wit and grace,” the firm says. “Charlie was a great partner and a good friend to many of us. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with his family.”
