HEI Hotels SVP Russell Urban tells GlobeSt.com he is navigating the city's approval process right now but does not expect any hiccups because the site is entitled for what it wants to do. "[Bellevue] is one of the fastest growing commercial centers in the country right now and we felt it has a real need for more full-service hotel rooms," he says.

The hotel will be its first in the Pacific Northwest but not the last. "We are looking at several other acquisition and development opportunities in the Pacific Northwest," he says. "We certainly like the market and would like to be represented there a little bit more."

The new hotel would include 13,000 sf of meeting space as well as a restaurant, fitness facility, indoor pool and parking garage. The hotel is expected to open in 2010. It would be the only full-service Marriott in the city.

"We've done quite a bit of research, as has Marriott, and feel very good about this opportunity," Urban says.
