SMG's Strategy Group will specifically work with domestic and international companies in the development, implementation and execution of strategies geared to determine how real estate can be best used to gain competitive operating and investment advantage. "Real estate assets are an enormous but underutilized asset class on Corporate America's balance sheet," says Bruce Schonbraun, SMG's managing partner. "SMG's specialized real estate services provided through our new Strategy Group are designed to assist our clients leverage their real estate holdings for a stronger balance sheet."

Barovick and Kulik, who are nationally recognized for their work in the real estate arena, join SMG from HelixGlobal, a business and real estate advisory firm they co-founded to deliver strategy, capital markets and implementation solutions to businesses with underlying value in real estate. Previously, Barovick was CEO of Grubb & Ellis. He also worked as global director of corporate real estate advisory services at Ernst & Young.

Prior to establishing HelixGlobal, Kulik was chief strategy officer at Grubb & Ellis. Previously, she held senior executive positions at national real estate firms where she led the implementation of strategic operating solutions and real estate portfolio development.
