NJMC Launches A Solar Startup

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commis-sion has unveiled plans to begin the first phase of a five-MW solar array with a 700 KW solar energy grid on its own properties.

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission has unveiled plans to begin the first phase of a five-MW solar array with a 700 KW solar energy grid on its own properties. The commission has also picked Epuron LLC, a German company with offices in Philadelphia, to install photovoltaic panels, and will negotiate a power purchase agreement.

“At the forefront of regional policymaking efforts to combat global climate problems is the need to locate clean, renewable energy sources,” says Susan Bass Levin, NJMC chairman and commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. “We are taking the lead in demonstrating how these technologies are both environmentally responsible and economically beneficial.”
