David Baird, senior managing director, tells GlobeSt.com that it is the goal of the company to expand its Boston and New Jersey-based Global Life Science Practice Group in select cities in the Mid-Atlantic and nationally. The Washington-Baltimore corridor--which includes the Gaithersburg, MD life science hub--is a key market in this endeavor, he says.

"This office started about eight months ago as a result of the CBRE-Trammell Crowe merger, with the core group coming from Trammell Crowe," Baird explains. Most of that activity had been focused on the health care industry, a complementary business line to life sciences. The company is now leveraging that expertise to build out its presence in the life science sector.

In the Baltimore area, he says, C&W is "active in several hundred thousand sf of current requirements for both landlords and tenants. That is only a fraction, though, of what we will realize with Craig on board." Baird declined to provide specific benchmarks for the Baltimore practice but did say he expects to see its activities grow "exponentially in the next few years."
