RIVERSIDE, CA-The Press-Enterprise newspaper is now operating in a new five-story, 164,000-sf LEED-certified office buidling designed by Irvine-based LPA Inc. The nearly 130-year-old newspaper's new facility is at 3512 14th St.

The office building features a 100-foot tower that provides a new landmark in Downtown Riverside, comments Rick D'Amato, design principal with LPA. The building utilizes indirect lighting, dimming systems, high-efficiency air handling equipment, natural materials and intelligent construction technologies, D'Amato points out.

Other green features of the design include drought tolerant landscaping as well as low flow plumbing fixtures throughout the facility. The building also features effective sun control systems through the use of sun screens, fins and protective devices.

LPA, Inc. partnered with DPR Construction on the project as well as Culp & Tanner as the structural engineer. Dan Heinfeld is LPA's principal in charge of the project, with D'Amato serving as design principal.

This is LPA Inc.'s 11th project within the Inland Empire, where its work also includes Empire Center in Fontana, the Sears Consolidated Credit Center in Rancho Cucamonga, the Temecula Tower Plaza in Temecula and phase one of the University Corporate Center in Pomona. The company, which maintains offices in Irvine and Roseville, is one of the largest multi-disciplinary design firms in California.
