ROCKVILLE, MD-Scheer Partners, which began focusing on the life science sector around 10 years ago in an earnest fashion, is adding another component to its roster of services. Up until recently, says founder Robert Scheer, the company has tended to focus strictly on strategic advisory services. “Our focus going forward will be those areas plus a renewed emphasis on construction and project management.” The firm will also be focusing on acquisition and development and asset and incubator management in this niche, he adds. These were all areas in which Scheer Partners has been active in the past, albeit to a limited degree.

One way in which Scheer is differentiating itself is its focus beyond the life science hub that is Gaithersburg and 1-270. “We consider the entire Greater DC area as a potential site,” Scheer says. This definition, he says, stretches from Baltimore to Danville, VA. Another differentiator is a staff that has experience in the biological and biotech areas.

Currently Scheer has a $250-million pipeline for biotech projects, although not all of it is construction and development–the areas in which Scheer wants to concentrate. For instance, Scheer Partners recently completed a laboratory and office renovation for Prometic BioTherapeutics at 9800 Medical Center Dr. The project included the addition of several offices and the renovation of various laboratory components, along with the addition of a freezer storage room.
