MIAMI-Construction will begin this month on the 83,000-sf Soho Beach House condo hotel development at 4385 Collins Ave. The project includes renovation to the 44-room Sovereign Hotel, a 1940s-era Art Deco hotel, and construction of a new 15-story tower which will house 67 condominiums. Soho Beach House is the second US project by hotelier Nick Jones, the creator of Soho House in New York City, Soho House in London and Babington House in Somerset, England.

Fort Lauderdale-based Moss & Associates was awarded the $32-million construction management contract for the project, expected to be completed in March 2009. The architect on the project is Allan T. Shulman. The building will be screened with wrapping balconies and perforated concrete panels. The project is located in mid Miami Beach, adjacent to the landmark Fontainebleau.

This is the second project Moss & Associates will be constructing in Miami. The company is scheduled to begin work on the Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, South Beach in December. The project is a joint venture of Lionstone Development LLC and Fortune International.
