AUSTIN-Jane Snoddy Smith, partner and real estate lawyer with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP has been elected national president-elect of CREW. Smith will begin her duties in January 2008 and move into the president's slot in 2009.

Smith became a partner at Fulbright & Jaworksi in 2002, joining the Austin office in 2005. She represents banking institutions, real estate investment trusts, healthcare institutions, national insurance companies, pension fund advisers, national real estate developers and department store retailers.

Smith initially joined CREW in St. Louis, where she lived and worked for years before coming to Texas. She is a founding member of CREW Austin and served as chapter president in 2005. On the national level, she's served as a CREW board member and chaired the recognition committee.

In a statement about the election, Smith says CREW, with 7,621 members in 65 chapters, has been important in bringing together women in real estate, a mission she plans to continue during her term. “We have become a catalyst for change within the industry and our members represent the standard of excellence and professionalism needed for today's complex real estate transactions,” she says, adding that CREW also is working toward bringing more diversity to the industry.
