MONTGOMERY, IL-Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc., headquartered in Morton, is expanding by 134,960 sf to a total of 295,620 sf at the Southgate Commerce Center, 2015 Baseline Rd. The building is owned by Atlanta-based IDI.

Matthew Stauber with Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler represented both Caterpillar Logistics and IDI. Cat Logistics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., which has a manufacturing facility across the street from the building in which Cat Logistics is expanding. The logistics company signed a three-year lease for 160,660 sf in April and are now expanding to occupy about half of the 580,000-sf building, says Jeff Lanaghan, vice president of leasing and development with IDI. The term will coincide with their existing lease. EB Brown occupies the rest of the building. The asking lease rate for the area is in the "mid-$3 range" net, he says.

Chicago-based Brook Electrical Supply Co. also has signed a lease for 162,419 sf at IDI-owned 880 S. Rohlwing Rd. in Addison. The electrical equipment distributor signed a 10-year lease beginning Jan. 1. Keith Puritz, with CB Richard Ellis, represented Brook Electrical in the lease transaction. Lanaghan represented IDI in the transaction. There is currently 290,681 sf unoccupied in the building. The asking lease rate is $5 per sf, net, Lanaghan says.
