MARINA, CA-Orange County-based Shea Properties plans to unveil its 368,000-sf Dunes on Monterey Bay community center on Saturday, adding a retail element to the 400-acre master-planned community of the same name that is being developed on the former Fort Ord army base. The overall Dunes on Monterey Bay project is one of the largest mixed-use developments in the region, and the retail portion of it opens with a tenant roster including some of the country’s biggest names in retailing: Target, Kohl’s, Best Buy, Old Navy and REI.

The retail center site is on the southeast corner of Highway 1 and Imjin Parkway. Aliso Viejo-based Shea is developing it via an entity called Marina Community Partners that is a partnership of Shea Properties, Shea Homes and Centex Homes, along with the City of Marina Redevelopment Agency.
