The center, Kirkwood Plaza, is a long-term fixture in New Castle County. Developed by Dale L. Reese in the 1960s, it was one of the first large retail centers to be built here.

Ron Cappello with Fameco Real Estate represented the seller in the transaction. Cappello maintained contact with the owner over the years; when the LP was ready to sell the center, it tapped Cappello to handle the sale. Today it is 95% leased, and anchored by Kohl's, Pathmark, AC Moore and Petco.

Oekos has hired Fameco as the center's leasing agent. Fameco represents 90 shopping centers and retail properties totaling 14 million sf in the tri-state area.
