The asset is the 12th resort obtained by Playa Hotels in the Dominican Republic and Mexico since its creation in 2006. Features include an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, conference facilities, numerous lounges and seven full-service restaurants, as well as a Kids Club. The resort is situated on the "Amber Coast," a 15-minute drive from the local airport and 10 minutes from Puerto Plata.

"Puerto Plata is a famous resort destination that offers guests a complete vacation experience in a beautiful setting," says Playa Hotels & Resorts CEO Bruce Wardinski in announcing the purchase. "The hotel enjoys an excellent reputation and we will add new services and amenities that will create an unparalleled guest experience." The complex fits into Playa Hotels' desire for all-inclusive beachfront hotels in the Caribbean, Latin America and Mexico. Company officials say negotiations are ongoing to acquire additional properties in those regions.
