As a result of the lease, it occupies 100% of the building, which was constructed in 1991. The postal service will take occupancy of the space in February, after the current tenant vacates it.
Southern Commercial Real Estate Advisors principals Tom McFadden and William Bradford represented the landlord in the transaction, DCT Industrial Trust. Mark Stratman, of the Staubach Co., represented the US Postal Service. "The US Postal Service needed the extra space because of the growth that the Orlando area has been experiencing," McFadden tells GlobeSt.com.
McFadden adds that the postal service solicited proposals from three or four developers to build a new facility, but decided against it. "It made more economic and geographic sense to remain in the same place," he says.
