Levy assumes these responsibilities from Cab Grayson, who, after eight years, has transferred to a client relations position at the company's CBRE Investors subsidiary. Levy had previously been a leader in one of the most active and diverse real estate investment banking practices for the past seven years. As a principal at Stifel Nicolaus, formerly Legg Mason Capital Markets, he was one of the bankers on 10 M&A transactions and played a significant role in the initial public offering of six REITs, as well as dozens of other public and private capital-raising transactions.

"As an investment banker, I can't think of a more exciting job than helping to meld two hugely successful businesses--CBRE's investment sales and debt/equity finance offerings--into an even more powerful, integrated platform that fully leverages the most talented professionals and largest footprint of client and capital relationships in the real estate industry," Levy tells GlobeSt.com.

Greg Vorwaller, president of CBRE's Investment Properties Group, tells GlobeSt.com that "Spencer's background, energy, drive and belief in what CBRE could accomplish on behalf of our clients with a fully integrated investment sales and financing platform made him the ideal choice." Vorwaller adds that his appointment is a "testament to the ability of our platform to attract premier professional talent that enhances our pool of intellectual capital."

"Spencer's deep understanding of the equity and debt markets--as well as corporate-level finance--will be extremely valuable as we continue to expand our investment sales and debt/equity finance operations to best serve our clients in both the private and public capital markets," notes Brian Stoffers, president of CBRE Capital Markets, in a prepared statement.

In the first nine months of 2007, CBRE Capital Markets completed more than $70 billion of transactions in the US--an increase of approximately 50% over the same period last year. The company has been expanding its Capital Markets service offering. Earlier this year, it announced the formation of the Global Property Advisors Group, which advises offshore investors and others on the acquisition of US commercial real estate, and the Equity Product Group, which raises equity and high-yield debt for commercial properties.

Prior to entering investment banking, Levy served as assistant general counsel of the Witkoff Group, at the time one of the largest property owners in the New York City area. Before that he was a real estate attorney at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson and Jones Day Reavis & Pogue.
