The firm, which currently leases 27,000 sf in the Chrysler Building, is taking a five-year sublease for 52,000 sf at the Rockefeller Center building. In a little more than two years, having more than doubled the number of attorneys in the city, Venable needed a larger space to accommodate its growing practice in the city, according to a company statement. The firm will now take contiguous office space at 1270 Ave. of the Americas to accommodate its growth. The 31-story building, completed in 1932, is best known for its location adjacent to Radio City Music Hall.

"Obviously we have been very attached to our current location in the Chrysler Building, one of the city's finest landmark addresses," notes Edmund O'Toole, partner-in-charge of Venable's New York City office. "However, our steady growth over the past two years requires that we find a new home that can accommodate Venable's continued expansion in New York. Our new office right at Rockefeller Center and alongside one of the world's greatest entertainment venues assures that our new address will be as memorable as our present one."

The transaction at 1270 Ave. of the Americas is a sublease from another major law firm that vacated the offices for new space at the just-opened New York Times headquarters on Eighth Avenue. Venable expects to occupy the space by the end of the first quarter 2008. The firm was represented by real estate services firm Newmark Knight Frank.
