The stores will be City Furniture's first in this part of the state. The retailer owns and operates six Ashley Furniture HomeStores as licensee, and 15 City Furniture locations throughout South Florida. The new stores are slated to open simultaneously next summer, according to City Furniture president Keith Koenig.

Locally, Miller Construction has already begun work on the infrastructure of Alico Lakes, a 31-acre mixed-use center at Alico Road and Interstate 75 under a site development contract, according to a statement. An 80,000-sf City Furniture and a 34,000-sf Ashley Furniture HomeStore will anchor the center. The stores will have separate entrances but with an interior connection.

[IMGCAP(2)]Less than an hour south in Naples, Miller is constructing an L-shaped complex that will include a 56,500-sf City Furniture and a 31,500-sf Ashley Furniture HomeStore, which will also be connected. The complex is rising at the intersection of US 41 and Old US 41.

The contracts continue City Furniture's relationship with Miller Construction. The builder is currently renovating City Furniture's Miami Gardens showroom. In Fort Lauderdale, is converting a 52,000-sf former building previously home to a Modernage store into a 38,000-sf Ashley Furniture showroom. The building will also have additional showroom space for lease.
