PHILADELPHIA-Campanelli Cos. has completed construction of a 138,229-sf cold storage distribution center for Preferred Freezer Services. It is located on six acres at 3101 S. Third St.
The facility contains more than 102,100 sf of freezer space, 28,273 sf of dock and mechanical room space and 7,856 sf of office area. A spokesman for Braintree, MA-based Campanelli declined to provide information on either the construction cost or sales price to Preferred, citing "trade secrets."
This is among 15 facilities Campanelli has contracted to design and build for the Newark, NJ-based refrigerated warehouse company, including two previously reported in GlobeSt.com that are recently completed or underway in New Jersey. Among those currently under construction are facilities in Jacksonville, FL; Elizabeth, NJ and Everett, MA.
Completion of the Philadelphia project "demonstrates our ability to anticipate and meet the needs of an organization that is experiencing rapid growth and expansion across the nation," says Campanelli partner Daniel DeMarco in a statement. The developer's design-build services encompass site identification, permitting, design, construction and lease or sale.
Preferred will continue to work with Campanelli to locate, design and deliver "new turnkey facilities to meet the needs and requirements of our expanding customer base," says John Galiher, president and CEO, in a statement. Preferred now has 23 facilities in nine states nationwide.
