Great Books Moves 20,000 SF in 35 E. Wacker

CHICAGO-The Great Books Foundation, a nonprofit educational organization, has signed a lease for 20,000 sf at the 40-story 35 E. Wacker Dr. The term of the lease is 10 years. Great Books has been a tenant in the building since 1996 and had a lease set to expire in 2011, says David Stein, managing principal of Steinco.

Rudy Banducci, with Dorchester United States Management, represented building owner Marex Properties. Steinco Corporate Real Estate Advisors represented the tenant. The organization was looking for more efficient space and decided to relocate within the building as opposed to trying to remain in their current space while renovations were completed, Stein says. Great Books wanted to remain at 35 E. Wacker “because the building really fits their image,” he says. The organization is one of the largest nonprofit groups in the city and appreciates the architecture of the older building, which was built in the 1920′s, Stein says.
